iPhone SE

Early in August 2020, I purchased an iPhone SE from Apple. The reason of this purchase was to have a secondary cellular phone. This phone would have also been used if someone was to need to use my cellular phone. The current provider which is in SIM 1 is Life Wireless with the eSIM not in use.

The phone is small, especially when compared to the Pixel 3a XL. It works well enough, but not a pleasure to use. In addition, this phone is expensive at $550 for the 128GB model. I do like the plain design, and the Qi Charging capabilities. It’s simple and straight to the point.

The big issue other than the size is the OS. Being a long time Android user, I am not a fan of having the apps take up the home screen rather than sitting tucked away in an app drawer. Also, with the security designed aspect, I am currently unable to use Google Voice as the default dialer and SMS app. This would have been important if I should move my primary number back to Google Voice.

All in all, this is a good phone if you’re on a budget, and want to enter the Apple Eco-System. This however is still a barrier of entry for those that are low income.
